RACE wins ‘Outstanding Documentary Series - Serialized’ Sports Emmy

In May 2023 6-part Netflix documentary series (Boardwalk/300 Entertainment) won the Sports Emmy in the category for Outstanding Documentary Series (Serialized). The series follows Bubba Wallace, NASCAR’s only Black driver in the Cup Series. RACE is directed by Erik Parker, who was also executive producer, with Rob Ford as Co-EP and myself as co-producer. Honored to be chosen as the mentee of acclaimed filmmaker/producer Sabrina Schmidt Gordon as part of her Dear Producer Award. RACE: BUBBA WALLACE will stream on Netflix February 22 2022

Following the massive success of “Formula 1: Drive to Survive,” Netflix is turning its attention to American auto racing. The streamer has released a new trailer for “RACE: Bubba Wallace,” a new documentary about NASCAR’s only full-time Black race car driver. The six-episode series premieres February 22.

 

2021 Film Independent Documentary Lab fellow

“The films selected for this year’s Lab represent true diversity in storytelling and artistic style, taking us from Black women organizer-superheroes in 1970s Las Vegas to scrappy youth on the streets of Naples, Italy,” said Lisa Hasko, Director of Artist Development. “From personal to political and everywhere in between, these boundary-pushing filmmakers challenge us to think beyond our bubbles in the most creative, immersive ways.”

 

Selected for Impact Partners Documentary Producers Fellowship 2020

I’m extremely excited and proud to be part of the 2020 cohort. From Impact Partners: “In response to the COVID-19 crisis, and in recognition of an exceptionally strong application pool, we have expanded our 2020 cohort from 10 to 15 producers. We hope that the fellowship will provide support and community to this exceptional cohort of producers at a time when connection is especially vital to documentary producers’ professional and personal well-being.”

SWIPE selected for ‘Golden Calf competition’ at the Netherlands Film Festival 2019

The first short narrative film I’ve produced under the banner of my newly minted production company Before Films will premiere at the Netherlands Film Festival in the fall of 2019. SWIPE is selected for the Golden Calf competition, the country’s biggest film prize.

SWIPE selected for ‘De Ontmoeting’

Short online dating app horror SWIPE from director Niels Bourgonje and produced by me is selected for the 4th annual edition of Dutch initiative ‘De Ontmoeting’ (The Meeting). It links filmmakers & producers with broadcasters or production companies to help make their short films. Swipe stars Ebony Obsidian and Jefferson White and will be shot in NY in March 2019.

A Life Before This wins Special Jury Mention at March on Washington Film Festival

More than 100 filmmakers submitted their work to the 5th annual March on Washington Film Festival that focused on the theme 'speaking truth to power'. After being shortlisted in the Student Documentary competition, A Life Before This was awarded with a Special Jury Mention. It included a $500 cash prize, $250 in production services and a public screening in Washington D.C. during the festival.
